A full truckload is a shipment of freight for only one customer/company. This means that the entire truck is full of goods from a customer, whether it is completely full or not. What are the advantages of full loads even if the truck is not fully loaded? The freight forwarder can transport the goods directly from A to B. The cargo can be brought to its destination quickly and without detours. It can also sometimes happen that the truck is not fully loaded, but the goods are so heavy that no other goods can be loaded.

If the load is not so large or heavy that it requires a full truck, it is called a less-than-complete load. In this case, several customers share a truck with the freight forwarding company. This also has the advantage that costs can be saved. Goods that are transported as partial loads are arranged judiciously through placement based on size, weight and region of destination. Unlike a full truckload, delivery can take a little longer.

General cargo is cargo that can be transported in one piece. These include, for example, barrels, crates, pallets, etc. They differ from the transport of liquids, coal, sand or grain, which are usually shipped unpacked and are therefore not general cargo.

Unlike a regular transport company that “only” transports freight, freight forwarders also arrange for the transport of all types of freight, and this includes, in particular, prioritizing a customer who wishes to use the services of a freight forwarder. In addition, it is a matter of capacity assessment in terms of customer priorities. And a declaration of the costs of the transport route. Also, one of the tasks of the freight forwarder is the handling of goods, the acceptance of goods by means of transport. The same applies to the storage of goods if delivery and removal are not immediate.

“Logistics” comes from “ancient greek” and translated means “practical arithmetic”.
When we talk about logistics, it means organising and optimising processes to ensure the best possible flow of goods. Here, the internal and external flow of information plays an essential role. Logistics also refers to a rule that describes the main objectives of internal, external, national and international logistics. Here is how the rule of logistics is precisely defined : the right product in the right quantity at the right time in the right place with the right quality and at the right price.

Of course, the transport of goods should go as smoothly as possible. Goods must not be lost or damaged and in particular must arrive at their destination on time. This is done with various transport options such as rail, trains and trucks. The latter is one of the most flexible and popular ways to transport goods from A to B. All these transport options are part of the European “Cargo Transport”. This also includes the “Piggy Back Service”, which is a combination of truck and rail (an environmentally friendly option), as well as the so-called “Air Freight”, i.e. air freight (the most expensive option) and “Cargo Shipping”, where goods transported by truck, barge or train.

The Europallet is a flat pallet made of wood from the Europool exchange system. This type of pallet always complies with EN 13698-1. The reusable transport pallet offers a basic area of 0.96 square metres and dimensions of 1200 mm × 800 mm × 144 mm and a weight of 20 to 24 kg. All types of goods can be stacked on the pallet for easy loading, unloading and transportation. Truck can transport 34 pcs. 2 x 120 cm in truck width and 17 x 80 cm in truck length.

ELVIS stands for Europäischer Ladungs-Verbund Internationaler Spediteure (European Load Association of International Forwarders). As the name suggests, ELVIS is a collaboration between medium-sized carriers and freight forwarders who can act together in a stronger way. Increasing cost pressures, growing competition, especially from Eastern Europe, and ever increasing demands from industry and business can be met more easily in a network. ELVIS now has 200 members in more than 280 locations. It offers protection, robustness and numerous opportunities for the individual freight forwarder to expand and customize their range of services.
